La Droguerie’s Baby Blanket and Bunny

December 2008
Tokyo Japan

As I have brought 5 boxes of yarn with me to Japan and since this is going to be my last year in Japan, I am going to have to crank up on the knitting as I have only completed one project the 2 years I have been in Japan.  A colleague of mind and a good friend had her second baby boy, so I decided to make a baby blanket and a knitted stuff animal.  At first I thought about using the yarn I have but after going to La Droguerie (the famous Parisian craft store) in Ometesando, I decided to buy some of their fabulous yarn and use their patterns for a baby blanket and stuffed bunny.

Their yarns and patterns are gorgeous but I have to say the patterns are not always easy to follow.  I bought the book  "La Droguerie's Babies" which fortunately was written in English.  The blanket looked easy but I had a tough time getting the gauge right.  In the end I used a smaller needle and the size of the blanket was off but it turned out nice and soft.  I also crocheted the edge of the blanket instead of sewing a felt edging like it was suggested.  The bunny was pretty easy to make and cute.  I'll definitely be making more of them for myself!

I gave my friend the blanket and bunny last weekend so I hope she and her newborn son like it!
