Malibu, California
Happy Valentine's Day
My ocean shipment from Japan arrived on Friday and now my house is a mess. To escape the boxes and the joy of unpacking, I decided to take a walk through Malibu Colony and to the infamous Malibu Pier on a glorious, sunny Saturday morning.
I parked my car at Malibu Mart in front of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and walked across PCH to Malibu Colony first. The beach at Malibu Colony was deserted except for a flock of seagulls and pelicans. The beach was also quite eroded due to the recent storms. But the sea was a beautiful blue, dotted with a few surfers.

The path to the beach is beautiful.
And is a haven to many ducks.
The beach is home to pelicans and seagulls.

From Malibu Colony, it is about a 10 minute walk to the pier. Malibu Pier has a long history and is famous because it is right next to the infamous Surfrider beach where surfers from all over the world come to ride the fabulous waves. The plan was to have breakfast on the pier as there are 2 restaurants. But unfortunately, both were not open for breakfast! So instead, I watched the fishermen catch fish, enjoyed the fabulous view and then headed back to the Malibu Mart for breakfast at Marmalade Cafe.

Janet, glad to see that you are still a tourist in your own town! It is a great way to get inspired about the fabulous area/state in which you live.
