Malibu, California
Blue Skies and Sunshine
So much for the rain that was expected. I fell asleep last night to sound of rain drops. I woke up expecting rain but instead the sky was blue and beautiful. So I packed the dogs in the car and took them to their favorite park – Malibu Bluffs Park. I take the dogs their almost every sunny early morning. Skipper always liked the park and Yuki enjoys it also. Sometimes with Yuki, I let go of the leash and play tag and fetch with her.
Malibu Bluff Parks is located near PCH and Malibu Canyon Road and is a great place for a picnic, easy hike and for kids. It has a recreation center named after the late actor Michael Landon and also a beautiful baseball field for Little League. In the summer the park is host to outdoor movies.
At least once a week, I meet someone inspiring at the park. Today was no exception. I met a scuba diving instructor for the handicapped. Today, he was taking 4 Iraqi War veterans who cannot walk scuba diving. He also teaches autistic children how to dive. I spent a good 30 minutes or so talking to him about his work. I need to seriously do more to give back to humanity. What an inspiring guy.

Pierce Brosnan built this area for whale watching as a memorial to his first wife Cassie.
There are also several trails for some easy 30min to about one hour hikes
Because it was early in the morning and after a night of rain, we had to be careful not to step on the snails. This one was quite beautiful.
Yuki and Skipper love the park. Here they are juggling for space near their favorite tree.
Yuki obeying my command while off the leash. The park is a very good place for dog training.

By the way, remember this photo from one of my previous posts? I found out these yellow flowers are rare and are called Giant Coreopsis which only grows in California. Who knew?
Hi. Do you happen to have the name/contact info of the scuba diving instructor that teaches special needs children? Thanks in advance.
