An Angry Planet Earth

Stormy Weather

I woke up very early today (went to bed around 8pm last nite after a very long work week) and decided to take the dogs to the beach before the 2nd storm in 2 days arrive.  I decided to go take them for a drive to Thornhill Broome Beach in Pt Magu which is a very dog friendly beach/campground.  The drive is spectacular as the road hugs the coastline and every time I take it, I always feel so blessed to be able to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We arrived at Thornhill Broome around 630am.  I was a bit surprised as the tide was not as low as expected.  The seas were rough which was expected as a storm was coming but the tide was pretty high so not much beach left to enjoy. I played fetch with Yuki-chan while Skipper kept busy sniffing all the unusual smells of the beach.  Then around 7am, I heard a lifeguard approach in a truck with sirens blaring which frightened Yuki-chan.  The siren was so loud that all the campers woke up including those staying in RVs and the many dogs sleeping in the RVs started howling.  Since I was the only one on the beach, his first stop was to speak to me.  For a second, I thought he was going to give me a ticket for not having the dogs on a leash, but instead, he told me the beach is closed due to a Tsunami warning!  This is how I found out about the devastating earthquake in Chile.  The California Tsunami Warning Center is not expecting a "big" tsunami but a 1-2 ft surge which can be dangerous.  I was numb.  First Haiti, then Japan and now Chile?!  The lifeguard told me the earthquake in Chile was very big and much damage and loss of life is expected.  As I walked the dogs back to the car, it started hailing. Planet Earth, why are you so angry?

I am lighting my incense from Bhutan to help calm Planet Earth and to provide comfort for those affected by the recent tragedies.
