Malibu, California
A Cool, Foggy 60 plus degrees
Happy Birthday America! and I'm so happy to be spending it with you in the good ole U S of A! It's been 3 years since I've celebrated July 4 and it is one holiday I missed the most while in Japan. I was a bit blue in the morning though as the tradition was to see the Pacific Palisades parade with my sister and family and then have a fun barbecue. Since they moved, I had no such plans and no social activities planned. Plus I developed a migraine last night so did not sleep well so wanted to have an easy July 4. Well, that changed when after failing to find the Backbone Trail head at Encinal Canyon Road, Yuki-chan and I decided to got to Pt. Dume instead for a leisurely walked. We arrived at the elementary school just in time for the Pt. Dume neighborhood parade. The residents of Pt. Dume decorated either their golf cart or bicycle, participated in the parade, and then got together at the elementary school for a barbecue. So Yuki-chan and I ended up joining the festivities even though technically, I'm not part of this very chi chi neighborhood. Thanks to Yuki-chan, I met many people including some celebrities but found the whole community to be very welcoming, nice and fun!
Yuki-chan, waiting for the parade to start. Skipper was home, resting after a long morning walk.

Surf was up in Malibu, so some residents went straight to surfing after the parade and skipped the barbecue. After all, it is Malibu!
Love it! So glad you are there to celebrate!
