Carlsbad, California
A bit of Sun and a bit of Fog
Last Saturday, after sending Billy off to camp, my BFF for over 30 years, Linda came over to Malibu to hang out for the day. It's been awhile since we spent a whole day together so had a fabulous time. As an art fair was going on at Malibu, we decided to spend the day at the center of town. It's something I haven't done since I've been back and it was fun!
We started our day chatting and catching up at my place but then went for some Italian food at Tra di Noi in the Malibu Country Mart. After a delicious meal of salad and pasta, we burned calories by strolling through the Art Festival. The annual art festival is quite famous but I find the art work to be pricey and nothing really spoke to me. I did however, buy a stainless glass piece of art for a very good price -$40 – which I will hang in my bathroom. I've been looking for one for quite some time so am happy I finally found something that I liked.

We then strolled through the shopping area and made our way to the Malibu Colony Beach. It turned out to be a gorgeous day so we sat on the beach and continued catching up on our lives. Linda has been doing a lot of life coaching so was giving me great advice and enlightening me on ways to optimize my life. I have to say my life is pretty good as I live in a beautiful area and have very special friends. After enjoying the sun and beach for about an hour we slowly walked back to the Country Mart but not before stopping to enjoy the wild bird preserve at the Colony. Unfortunately, I forgot my nice camera so only had my iphone to take photos. Linda couldn't believe it because I ALWAYS travel with my Sony DSLR! Anyhow, took some artsy photos with Hipstamatic and ShakeIt photo apps.

We got back to the Country Mart around 4pm, just in time to catch a movie. So we saw "Salt" with Angelina Jolie. I love the Hollywood Malibu Theater as all the movies are in Digital Cinema, its clean and very quaint. You feel like you are in a studio's screening room. The movie was fun, a good movie to see with girlfriends!
After the movie, we headed to Westward Beach where I took Linda to Sunset Restaurant. It's called Sunset because it is literally across from the beach and you get one of the best views of the sunset in Southern California. We had a delicious meal of mussels, sweet pea soup and a flatbread topped with shrimp, cheese and fresh spinach. Yum!

Then all of a sudden, the day was over and Linda had to head back. We had a great time catching up and can't wait to see them again when I host a party for my sister and family on August 13. We also agreed, we'll try and schedule a spiritual trip together to Sedona in January. I've always wanted to go to Sedona am so looking forward to it. Linda knows a lot about Shamanism so what better way to enjoy one of the centers of positive energy than with Linda!
