Art at the Mart

Malibu, California

Perfect Beach Weather

After taking the dogs for their early morning walk at Malibu Bluffs Park, I stopped at my fav Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for my Saturday morning NSA Soy Chai Latte.  It's the BEST!!  While waiting for my latte, the barista told me that the sculpture display at the Malibu Mart is ending soon.  So what better way to enjoy it but first thing on a sunny Saturday morning before the crowds come in.

The Malibu Country Mart has changed quite a bit in the 3 years I've been gone.  Gone are the local stores and in are the trendy and expensive stores such as Intermix, Maxfield, Ron Hermann, etc.  But John's Food stand is still there and so is the Coffee Bean.

For the duration of the summer, a display of modern sculptures dot the Country Mart.   I took photos of my favorite sculptures this morning.

Skipper and Yuki were terrified of this sculpture which is kind of hidden and in front of Malibu Colony Store

I liked this one because it was colorful and reminded me of cactus

I used to take my nephews here when they were little.  We used to call it Hammer Park because of the big red Hammer Man.  The artist created a small hammer man for the occasion.

Skipper and Yuki were afraid of these two "coyotes" too.

And across the street, DEER!  They look real from afar but they are also sculptures.
