Gorgeous Beach Day

The post is way overdue.  It's about our last day in Argentina.  After a great tango night, we had pretty much all day to explore one neighborhood in Buenos Aires as our flight departed around 9pm.   Last time we were in BA, our plan was to go to La Boca, a colorful barrio of BA.  But we never made it, so our goal for our last day in BA was to explore La Boca.

La Boca is known for its colorful buildings, cobblestone roads and home to La Bombonera, one of the world's best known soccer clubs.  We were very lucky because the weather was perfect to do a walking tour of the neighborhood.  We did alot of window shopping and Sandra found a beautiful painting by a very nice artist for her new house.  We did not stray from the "tourists" street as all the guide books warn you of the dangers.  And while taking a cab ride back, we learned how quickly the neighborhood becomes very seedy.

After thoroughly enjoying La Boca, we went to Puerto Madera, the chi chi neighborhood of BA, where the rich and beautiful live.  We had a wine break at a local place, people watched and talked to the waiter who also has a place in Florida.  He basically works part of the year in BA and part in Florida.  Real nice guy.

We then went back, finished packing and headed to the airport to go back home.

What a fantastic trip.  I dare say, Argentina is one of the most beautiful countries I've been to and the people have got to be the nicest.  Everywhere we went, people were nice and very helpful.  I could definitely live there!

Our hotel was near the famous Cafe Tortoni. So we went there for a HUGE breakfast of ham/cheese sandwiches with cake and coffee
