Hot and Sunny
After a full and exciting day in Taxco, we spent the next couple of days in Mexico City walking around, having delicious Mexican coffee which I am going to have to learn to make with 2 main things to see in our itinerary – Lucha Libre and the famous Museum of Anthropology. Well, we got tickets for Lucha Libre for Tuesday night believing that the show goes on to midnite. We know it started at 730pm but decided to head out around 830pm so we can see the more famous wrestlers put on a show. For those who do not know, Lucha Libre is a unique professional wrestling spectacle where the wrestlers wear fancy masks. When leaving, we realized we are going to travel through a major thunderstorm. So instead of the 15minute cab ride, we ended up getting there an hour and 10 minutes later only to find the show has ended! LoL! Only on weekends does the show go on until midnite we found out. So we missed it! Anyhow, a reason to come back.
We did however, enjoy our walks through the city. We walked the "5th avenue" of Mexico City where we saw Bentleys drive escorted by cars carrying bodyguards -the Condesa and Roma district which is trendy and where I had my first authentic Mexican coffee – a delicious lunch and a famous seafood restaurant. And the highlight which is the Museum of Anthropology. I heard it is one of the top 5 museums of the world and it did not disappoint. Here you can find significant archaeological and anthropological artifacts from teh pre-Columbian heritage including artifacts from the Teotihuacan, Aztec and Mayan eras. It has the most comprehensive collection in the world. Both Sandra and I were in awe of the artifacts. It is very well preserved and so intricate. Amazing how rich and sophisticated the people were 2000s of years ago.
The latter half of our vacation was spent at Sandra's place in Cabo San Lucas. We went from cool weather (high in the 70s, low in the 50s to high in the 90s , low in the 70s). We basically, cooked, golfed, drank wine and cocktails and relaxed. I was able to finish the 720 page wonderful book - A Little Life – by Hanya Yanagihara. So it was relaxing! Another great and fun vacation with my BFF and travel buddy – Sandra.
